Training for Adults 50+

According to studies at Harvard University Medical School and the Mayo Clinic, humans lose muscle strength, flexibility, and bone density as they age. In his or her fifties, the average American begins to gain weight at a rate of up to four pounds per year, mostly in the form of extra body fat. This extra fat increases bad cholesterol, stress, blood pressure, and the risk of diabetes, all of which are contributors to heart disease, cancer, and stroke, the three leading causes of death and disability in the US. Senior citizens also lose coordination, balance, and mobility as they age, and falls are a leading cause of disability amongst older populations.

DuBose Fitness Center founder Joel DuBose has played sports and trained as a competitive bodybuilder for more than 10 years. He has also coached high school and collegiate athletes and prepared bodybuilders for competition. From these experiences, Joel has learned that every athlete and bodybuilder responds differently to the many training and dieting methods out there. It’s simply a matter of finding the correct combination of diet and exercise that works for YOU!
